Setting
up MS Outlook 2000 / 98 Internet Mode
Start MS outlook and you should see a screen similar to this:-

Click on Tools and then Accounts... You should see a
screen similar to this:-

Click on the Mail tab and then Press the Add button and
select Mail. You should then see a screen similar to this:-

Enter the display name and press the Next >
button. You should then see a screen similar to this:-

Now enter your Email address and press the Next >
button again. You should then see a screen similar to this:-

Enter that address of your mail server. It will be
mail.<your domain name>.
If you use dial in through BUILDANDHOST
dial, Use your mail server name for both
the POP3 and the SMTP server addresses.
If you use another ISP other than BUILDANDHOST, use their
SMTP server address.
Then press the Next > button. You
should then see a screen like this:-

Enter your full Email address for your account name and
the password that you entered in the control panel for that Email
address. Tick the Remember password box and then press the Next >
button. You should then see a screen that looks similar to this:-

The method that you use to connect to the internet will
depend on the rest of your network set up. If you don't know try
connect using my phone line. Note you should have a working internet
connection before you create a Email account. That way if you have
any problem you can isolate it to your Email settings rather that your
internet connection. When you have selected which method, press the
Next > button. You should then see a screen similar to
this:-

Press the Finish button to complete this stage of your
Email set up process. You should see a screen similar to this.
Note that your Email account name is that of the mail server. Must be a
bug in outlook.

Next double click on the name of the Email account you
have just created. You should then see a screen similar to this:-

First change the Mail Account name to something
sensible. In the example we will use John Smith. Then enter
your Organization in the organization box (if you have one!). Then
enter your full Email address in the Reply address box. You should
then see a screen similar to:-

Finally press the OK button. Then press the OK
button again. You should now see a screen similar to this. You
Email account name should now show something a little more sensible.

Finally press the close button. Your Email account
in outlook XP / 2000 / 98 should now be set up.
You can add more than one Email account to Outlook.
Just repeat the steps detailed above.
