What do I need a web site for?
Every body has one... well nearly. So why does every one need
a web site?
Problem: In
our modern age, people are always short of time. They want
information to make decisions quick. When they are looking for new
products or services they will often ask a friend for recommendations,
look in the press and search through magazines for that speciality. What
is certain is that once they have a name of a company that provides
the desired service they are most likely to search for them on the Web
too.
What do you think they do if they can't find them?
Solution: A
web site! Nothing new there. Well here is where we need to
understand what it is that our future customers are looking for. Most web sites miss that point about totally. A web site to land
that customer needs to have the following structure:-
The problem: "Spending too much time on your
PC?"
Identify who the product or service is for:
"We work with Independent Service Professionals..."
Next identify what the solution and benefit is:
"...to give them more time by optimising their IT"
Why isn't
this done very often?: Simple. People have thought that the
internet is something different. It has its own rules that seem to
be totally against how things work in the real world. Remember the .com
boom... and bust?! A web site is no different to a marketing brochure. It
should follow the traditional marketing structure to make it a success.
Flashy wizzy graphics do not bring you new business unless you sell
Flashy wizzy graphics. What sells is detailed information about
what problem your product solves, how it solves it and what
your customers need to do to get you to solve their problem.
What do I need to do:
There is a free marketing plan work book that has a marketing
template for Independent Service Professional's web sites. This is
produced by
www.actionplan.com marketing. You will be able to create your
message and content for your site. You are now ready to create you own
web site that will attract new customers.
